With this work the artist wants to give recognition to the ability, entirely feminine, to create mystery around him and to upset the interlocutor, putting him in the condition of not knowing what to expect.
The shoulder position, in fact, precludes the contact of the looks and at a first glance the turning of the back can be a manifestation of fear or trimming.
But a more careful analysis allows us to perceive that the girl has a very relaxed attitude and demonstrates the absolute domination that she has over the situation.
In this regard, Francesca Boncompagni, who is a critic and Art Historian, writes on the catalogue of the ArtEscape exhibition in Venice in which Di Spalle was on display:
"When he places the lens on the female body Andreas, in each photo, with acute sensitivity, overcomes the obvious appearance that procures carnal sensuality. His shots do not claim to immortalize the fair sex in order to show the attractive and throbbing side of mere eroticism. The lens returns images of women, in their authentic beauty and intimacy. Harmony and elegance of forms, where the visible, is only a pretext to dig the deep sense of things. Black, when seen in its essence, allows us to go beyond darkness, beyond the indefinite, beyond the void. Visual masterpieces where the artist, with spontaneity, manages to capture and seduce the mind and heart of those who observe them."
